Historical information The area in which Lozzo lies, has been populated since the paleo-venetian era as proven by the interesting findings of the last century. Ruins of a Roman street, then right after, the remains of the Madonna di Loreto church. These are just few of the things discovered. The oldest document related to this town is a contract that details the exchanges with the nearby town of Auronzo dated 1188. The first church was already here in 1226, it is dependent of the one in Vigo from which it separated in 1390. Both the administration and the military of Lozzo, from '300 to '800, belonged to the Centenaro di Domegge, a part of the Regola of Vallesella. To secure the Piave valley, a sluice was built with retaining walls and towers. One should visit: in Pian dei Buoi, the Fort of Col Vidal (1887 m); the Madonna di Loreto church (on the old Roman road) and the St.Rocco church; and finally the botanic "Tita Poa" walk path.
