Historical information The story of Lorenzago, which derives its name from the Latin "Laurentius", is connected with the nearby Mauria pass, the entrance way from the Veneto region to Friuli region used since the Neolithic era. This area was the background for the war between the people from Codore and Austria (1848). This community is constituted by the two villages of Villapiccola and Villagrande. In July 1855, a terrible fire destroyed 57 wooden houses. The town of Villagrande was therefore reconstructed based on the designs of the architect Giuseppe Segusini following the model of Turin. One should visit: in the town of Villapiccola, The Church of Defence, rebuilt in 1841, where is kept a prestigious predella (1525); The Mirabello castle, the preferred place of His Santity Pope John Paul II; The XVIII century parish and the Tremonti house dated back to the 500's, and finally in Luca square ,there is Palazzo ex-Mainardi.
