From Feltre to San Gregorio nelle Alpi (19 km) along the state road in the direction of Belluno; once you reach Santa Giustina make a left climbing all of the hills at the bottom of Mt. Pizzocco (2186 m). The hills are filled with villages, country homes, whose poor but very dignified architectural style is the sign of a proud civilization, and beautiful estates. The Alpine surroundings are characterized by the Dolomite profile of Mount Pizzocco, a rocky crest whose bottom roots are hidden inside the valleys that can't be seen from the plains.
The town lies around the parish that has the most interesting pieces of work in the Belluno area: the altar piece by Alessandro Bonvicino (also called "il Moretto" from Brescia) where the Virgin Mary is depicted in a throne surrounded by the saints Gregorio and Valentino painted in 1519. An extraordinary painting with impressive light and natural strokes.
Some of the villas such as Villabruna in Fumàch, Sandi in Paderno, and so on, confirm the amenities of these hills from which it is possible to oversee all of the Piave Valley. In the past, the Feltre aristocracy and therefore, the architectural style of these country homes has reflected the Venetian style since the XVI century.
From San Gregorio, you can reach the nearby county of Cesiomaggiore and Sospirolo.
It is possible to take excursions to Mount Pizzocco with intermediate stops at the rest areas Le Ere (1300 m) and Palìa (1577 m) following the clearly labeled paths.
