Tambre

Accessibility Tambre, historically, owns its fortune to the tight connection with its community and the splendid Cansiglio Forest. This forest is divided amongst the provinces of Belluno, Treviso and Pordenone, and it represents one of the most environmental resources of the entire region. It starts at 1000 m. of altitude of the plateau and it reaches the 2250 mt. of Mt. Cavallo. This is a natural lung that covers 7,000 hectares of beeches and white and red fir trees. It is a protected area; therefore, the wood can only be cut under supervision. Cansiglio is in a wonderful panoramic and it offers the tourist many opportunities to be entertained and relax: there are many natural routes to follow on foot or on horse or with mountain bike and along which it is often possible to see some samples of the rich fauna (deer, mountain goats, hares, grouse roosters); the winter sports resorts which allow you to practice Alpine and cross-country skiing (40 km of trails). For golf lovers, in Pian del Cansiglio, there is an 18-hole golf course that is very interesting because of its karstic territory that characterizes the entire orographic composition of the territory (dolinas and sinkholes). In fact, this great green heart of the Alpago area, and the balsamic contact with its untouched nature, it's more than a simple occasion for entertainment but it is also a chance to learn. On one hand, an area where numerous archaeological discoveries can be kept (6,000 pieces that testify to the presence of humans in this plateau 10,000 years ago) it is still under construction; on the other hand, we can forget the already standing museums of the Cansiglio: the ecological Museum 'G. Zanardo' and the botanical garden 'G. Lorenzoni' in Pian del Cansiglio, the center of 'Cimbian ethnography' in Pian Osteria. The museum offers a large variety of embalmed animals, fossils and beautiful displays of photographic material regarding karstic phenomenon. The botanical garden is a wonderful natural oasis where the scientific knowledge of the surrounding area is promoted and in particular its beautiful local flowers. Regarding the center of 'Cimmerian ethnography,' we would like to remember that in its room axes saws and other instruments that belong to the local population for the cutting and working of the wood are proudly kept. The museum illustrates the simple life of this ancient community that came from Roana to the Asiago Plateau (the beginning of the XVIII century) and it allows us to understand and discover the traditions and customs of the Cimbrian population (in the 'Le Rotte' and 'Vallorch' there are still two villages where it is possible to "live and breath" the cimbrian civilization and to observe its typical houses.)
