JUST A DROP...

Description
You will find it served in fine little tulip-shaped glasses, ideal for conserving its aroma, usually to round off a tasty lunch or dinner. We’re talking, of course, about grappa, distilled from the pressing of the grapes and resplendent with that magical aura, mid-way between mystery and science, that in ancient times enveloped everything related to chemistry, and thus naturally also the process of distillation.

In the mountain refuges, agritourist farms and restaurants you will find a huge variety of different types of grappa, with something to suit everyone: mugo pine, juniper, gentian, nettle, cumin and rue are just some of the wild plants and herbs traditionally used for flavouring grappa. You will also find a wide range of fruit used to sweeten the typical grappas of the Belluno area, such as delicious blueberries, wild strawberries and raspberries, which can be eaten when you reach the bottom of the bottle. Over in the East Tyrol the most common variety is the famous Pregler schnapps, a delicious traditional grappa made from apples and pears. Grappa, or Schnapps as it is known in  Austria, is not only an excellent digestive drink, but also a versatile cooking ingredient, used in sweets and in creams to strengthen the flavour, or spread on some types of cheese during the maturing process. by the way
Resentin is the name given to the old mountain tradition of “rinsing out” the coffee cup with a dash of grappa. These days this ritual can be observed more or less throughout the Dolomites, in refuges, farmhouses and restaurants, and gives a final, characteristic touch to a typical local meal, bringing together the exotic taste of the coffee and the more robust, rustic flavour of the mountains. The two ingredients blend perfectly with each other, because the heat of the cup combines with the grappa to bring out the flavour of the remaining coffee to the full and melt the sugar on the bottom, creating an intriguing mix of flavours and aromas.
