Accessibility By car: From Venice highway Vittorio Veneto exit in Pian di Vedoia, then take state road 51 following directions to Tai di Cadore. From Udine, highway Udine - Tarvisio exit Carnia, then state road 355. The closest train station is in Calalzo di Cadore (km 35) from where many buses towards Sappada leave.

Historical information The valley is crowned by the Dolomite chains: delle Terze, Ferro del Gruppo del Siera, and it is closed on its northern side from the Peralba. At the foot of the Peralba, in the Sesis valley, there is the spring water of the Piave river, which runs in its length through all the Sappada valley. Sappada (Plodn in local dialect) is divided in 15 neighbors and each one of them has its traits. There is the chance for beautiful walks and excursions during the summer, and together with the chance of skiing and engaging in other winter disciplines, Sappada has become one of the most interesting tourist places of the Dolomite. In addition to all of this, there are also many sports, cultural events, celebrations and other types of entertainment. Sappada is a German speaking "island". It was born around the year one thousand, and its residents were the people who moved from the Tyrol and the Corinzia. There are many documents that confirm the origin of this area, but only the language ( a dialect very similar to the one spoken in Bavarian area) the traditions, the typical architecture. One should visit the old Sappada, with its wooden houses in Blockbau. There are two museums : one ethnographic museum and the museum of rural agricultural life.

Useful information Summer: a variety of excursions and trips are organized, 60 km of walk paths (12 of which are connected with other counties). Activities and infra structures: Mini golf, Mtb, sports fishing, bowling greens, tennis courts, horse back riding, Gymnasium, and so on. Winter: 20 Km of skiing slopes with 16 sky lifts (5 chair-lifts and 11 individual sky lifts) and 15 Km of cross country sky tracks with many different rings, programmed snow.
