Stage 1: from the Sanctuary of the Saints Vittore and Corona to Facen

Starting and ending point of the Way of the Dolomites is the Sanctuary of the Saints Vittore and Corona, at the entrance of Feltre. The ancient site of the two martyrs, protectors of the city, is a gem of faith in the Belluno territory perched on Mount Miesna from which you will descend along the Sentiero dei Capitelli path to the village of Anzù.

From here you will reach Feltre, of which you can see in the distance the town and Alboino's Castle, and visit the Cathedral dedicated to St. Peter. You can not miss a visit to the archaeological site, located just under the churchyard, and the uphill stretch, passing through Porta Pusteria door and going up the staris or using the elevator, to Piazza Maggiore square, a Renaissance jewel overlooked by noble palaces. From here you can walk along via Mezzaterra, famous for its frescoed buildings, or along via del Paradiso, which houses the Carlo Rizzarda Modern Art Gallery and the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art, once seat of the bishop's palace. Outside the city walls through Porta Imperiale door, cross the Colmeda stream over Ponte delle Tezze bridge then venturing into Feltre's countryside.

The itinerary runs through the surroundings of Feltre, reaching rural villages such as Tast, Teven, Travagola, where you can visit the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine del Caravaggio, and reaching Facen, ending point of this first stage.
