Stage 26: from Longarone to Farra d’Alpago

The first stretch of this stage travels through symbol sites of the Vajont tragedy (October 9, 1963), when a large landslide broke away from Mount Toc and fell into the lake created by the dam.

Starting from the church of Longarone, from which you can see the dam above the town, the route heads towards the village of Pirago, whose bell tower remained intact after the terrible event, reaching the new cemetery of Muda Maè.

You will then cross the railway underpass and take the cycle route known as “Rivierasca del Piave” which flanks the right bank of the river for about 3 km and almost reaches Soverzene and its hydroelectric power station. You will then continue to Soccher, in the municipality of Ponte nelle Alpi From here take the road that leads to Casan and Reveane and, following the signs “Sentiero Natura Alpago”, you will reach the Rai artificial torrent, overlooked by a beautiful path that crosses the Paludi locality. You will finally reach Bastia, entering the town of Puos d'Alpago.

The itinerary continues along the shores of Lake Santa Croce, ideal destination for windsurf, kitesurf and sailing lovers, featuring a large beach where you can take a break. Crossed the Sbarai natural oasis, which offers a wonderful view of all the mountains that overlook the Alpago valley, cross the footbridge over the Tesa stream, reaching Farra d'Alpago, ending point of this stage.
