Feltre Walnut

Until the mid-twentieth century, the production of walnuts in Feltre was about a third of that of the entire Veneto region. After decades of an almost total abandonment of this cultivation, in the last years started a rediscovery and enhancement of this ancient fruit.

Feltre walnut breaks easily and it is simple cracking it with fingers. It is egg-shaped, with a rounded base and a pointed top. The shell is clear and less thick than the average of the other varieties. You can easily separate the kernel from the shell.

Renowned for its excellent organoleptic features, Feltre Walnut is an ingredient in many local dishes, especially desserts, and also as accompaniment to cheeses and as a seasoning for savory dishes.

This variety of walnut is cultivated throughout the territory of Feltre and surroundings near the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park that has included it in the “Carta Qualità” of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park (a circuit including and recommending to tourists and residents the facilities and products for deeply linked to the “Park system”).
