Historical Museum of the 7th Alpine Troops Regiment

The Historical Museum of the 7th Alpine Troops Regiment exposes the collections which were located in the Barracks Salsa of Belluno and is made up of 160 weapons, 148 relics of various types, 271 documents and 33 private donations. The museum is located in Villa Patt in the municipality of Sedico, renovated by the Province of Belluno.

Through a journey of almost a century and a half of history, the exhibition describes the history of the 7th Alpine Regiment, from its foundation in 1887 until today, with photos and documents, weapons and artifacts collected and stored in what was the “Museum-Sacrarium” of the “Tommaso Salsa” barracks of Belluno.

On the ground floor you can see the many pennants and military uniforms that describe the transformation of equipment over the years, weapons and a cableway. On the first floor a diorama tells, with images and slogans, the military history of the 7th Alpine Regiment, from its foundation at the beginning of the Great War to the war in Albania and the reconstruction of the Regiment in 1954.
In the other rooms are exposed photos, plaques, diplomas and books. Of particular interest is the historical archive, in which are preserved original documents dating back to WWI, photo albums, maps and an almost complete collection of military postcards. Worth a note, some artifacts belonging to the category of “war prey” such as weapons and vestments of the Abyssinian Ras, memory of the colonial wars, and other memorabilia dating to the Second World War.

The Museum also received a donation of letters of an Italian alpine trooper from the Russian front, some Abyssinian weapons and a relic which commemorated the sacrifice of the alpine trooper Armando Piva in the Cima Vallona attack of June 25, 1967.

The Museum offers educational workshops for school groups and guided tours.
