At the foot of the Monti del Sole mountains in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park

This itinerary perfect for mountain bike lovers and ideal for families with children, runs between the northern part of the municipality of Sedico and the town of Sospirolo inside the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park.
Starting from Ponte Mas di Sedico, the itinerary runs for a short stretch along a flat paved road without traffic. Then you will ride along a path that flanks the Cordevole river, reaching the villages of Candaten and Salet, inside the Nature Reserve of the Monti del Sole mountains, managed by the State Forestry Corps Department, and part of the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. Inside the reserve you can admire horses graze and many different wildlife species like deer and chamois, as well as its unique flora.

The route leads to the ancient church of St. Gottardo, crossing point of the Way of the Hospices that descends from the Agordino area, and then towards the Certosa di Vedana (charter-house), inhabited from the fifteenth century first by the Carthusian monks and now by a community of nuns. Here was born on June 13, 1792 the famous scientist and explorer Girolamo Segato, well-known for his journeys in the East, in particular in Egypt, where he learned the technique of petrifaction of bodies and where he realized numerous maps that for the first time analyzed the territory in a scientific manner.

Then you will continue along the dirt path towards Lake Vedana overlooked by the Monti del Sole mountains and in particular Mount Pizzocco, one of the wildest and breathtaking areas included in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park. Descending towards the localities of Torbe, Gron di Sospirolo and Belvedere, you will return to the starting point, completing this interesting circular route.
