Malga Canidi

Malga Canidi (1250 m) is located at the municipality of Mel, in the homonymous locality on the slopes of Monte Canidi; from here you can enjoy a pleasant panorama that sweeps over the Valbelluna.

The main structure dates back to the seventies and was expanded in the nineties. Recently it has been the subject of renovation and improvements to accommodate the farm, the kitchen, the services, the cellar and the rooms for private use. There is a large terrace outside.

Malga Canidi is part of the "Agriturismo Veneto Terranostra" network.

Surrounded by a 44-hectare pasture with cows, horses, donkeys and sheep, the lodge is an excellent starting point for hiking, mountain biking or simply for a break of good food.

Malga Canidi is also an interesting place from a naturalistic point of view, as it is close to the blueberry trail and also to a 'pose' (water source) where the common frog and the yellow-bellied toad live.

From Mel you will reach the lodge heading for Praderadego, which is 10 km away, and then continue for another 4 km on a dirt road, where the last stretch is steep, but paved.
From the Posapuner Hut, which is reachable in 12.5 km from Combai (TV), Malga Canidi can be reached on foot or by MTB on a dirt road and is closed to traffic.

Activities and routes

TREKKING

  1. Malga Mont - Monte Crep: take the dirt road that continues behind the lodge. The travel time is 1 hour.
  2. Rifugio Posapuner (1332 m): take the dirt road that continues behind the lodge, in about 2 hours.

NORDIC WALKING

  1. From rifugio Boz to Malga Canidi, Olt de Val d'Arc, Val d'Arc: a hiking ring also known as the "ring of mountain lodges". The route offers magnificent views along the eastern ridge of Mount Cesen, both on the Valbelluna and on the Venetian plain, up to the sea and the Venice lagoon. It also allows you to visit the extraordinary natural monument that is the Olt de Val d'Arc. Starting from the Rifugio Boz, continue along the main road until you reach a group of houses, where you continue to the left until you reach Malga Canidi. From here you go to Malga Mont and Posa Puner where you will reach a clearing from which you have to continue to the right, downhill, on a trail to the Val d'Arc (be careful, because the sign is in unstable conditions). At this clearing, continuing to the right, you will reach Malga Mont. Coming down into the thick woods, you suddenly reach the large rocky arch of the Olt de Val d'Arc, a natural spectacle of huge effect. We then continue the descent with some very steep tract until you get to a forest road in the woods. Going slightly uphill you come out near the Rifugio Boz.

MTB:

  1. From Praderadego to Malga Canidi: you leave from the square of Praderadego along a dirt road with some very steep stretches, which leads directly to Malga Canidi. For the return journey, you can follow the same itinerary or take a path near the lodge up to Praderadego. Variation: from the lodge you can follow a developing path along ridges with a beautiful view of the Valbelluna up to Malga Mont, where there is also a bivouac. From here you reach the summit of Mount Crep, and here you start going down along a path towards the woods to get to Malga Canidi.

Agritourism

The lodge has 40 indoor seats and some in the outdoor. It offers typical dishes such as cold cuts, noodles with meat sauce, stewed chicken, beef stew, mixed grill and grilled cheese.
