Al Borgo

The Al Borgo Restaurant features an exceptional location: it is in fact inside an ancient Venetian villa of the 18th century originally belonging to the Doglioni, one of the most illustrious noble families of Belluno. In 1975 the ownership of the villa passed to Giuliano Viel, who converted it into a restaurant with some restoration work.

The rustic annex, which serves as a Guesthouse, offers comfortable rooms with a private bathroom, and non-smoking. Solid and rustic environments elegantly furnished and with particular attention to detail, such as the details in wrought iron, antique furniture and wooden floors. Here you can experience true Belluno hospitality and enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday in Valbelluna.

Breakfast is served in the living room of the villa or in the large garden and offers seasonal fruit, homemade jams, deli meats, cheeses, yogurt, cereals and sweets of all kinds.

Activities and routes

The Al Borgo Restaurant is nearby Belluno. An extraordinary nature, a passion for traditions, good food and outdoor sports make this structure a privileged tourist destination for those looking for a pleasant relaxing holiday for families.

The Val Belluna boasts centres rich in tradition, starting from its pulsating heart, Belluno, without forgetting Ponte nelle Alpi with its villages, Mel with its rich artistic and cultural heritage and its castle, Sedico with its villas, Sospirolo with the Certosa of Vedana. Each village in the valley holds precious treasures of tradition and culture that are worth discovering by strolling through narrow cobbled streets.

The Dolomites Bellunesi National Park is not only one of the major tourist attractions of the province, but also a good place for wonderful excursions suitable for the whole family or more challenging routes for trekking enthusiasts.

For those who love dynamic holidays in nature, the Alps of Nevegal has open activities for every season: a ski centre in the winter and a hiking paradise in the summer. But the Alps reserve many other surprises: sports competitions, the Sanctuary dedicated to Our Lady of Lourdes and the Botanical Garden of the Eastern Alps.

Since June 26, 2009 UNESCO declared the Dolomites a World Heritage Site: a total of 231 thousand hectares, divided between peaks and natural parks between the Provinces of Trento, Bolzano, Belluno, Pordenone and Udine, which are recognized as a patrimony to be protected thanks to their scientific importance at the geological and geomorphological levels. Among the most famous and closest peaks to the restaurant Al Borgo are la Schiara (Belluno), the Pelmo (Valley of Zoldo), the Croda da Lago (Cortina of Ampezzo), the Marmolada and the Pale of San Martino (Agordino).

Restaurant

The love for tradition and the healthy and genuine flavours of the past, this is the true passion of the Al Borgo Restaurant. A typical but refined cuisine, able to delight the palates with the taste of local products and their own products, matching them to the excellent labels of a fine wine cellar.

From the appetizer to the coffee, the cuisine reflects the landscape and the taste and genuineness of the flavours of the past. Herbs, mushrooms, potatoes, corn, beans, game, capretto (young goat) and lamb from Valbelluna are just some of the 0 km products that are used to create typical dishes of the Belluno gastronomy, such as risotto with herbs, pumpkin gnocchi, and crepes with hops, casunziei with red turnips or the barley soups. And then homemade desserts and local roasted coffee.

The staff of the structure have attended special courses for menus suitable for coeliac, to offer guests a safe gluten-free cooking (gluten-free products must be requested at the time of booking or before arrival).

Carachteristics

The charm of the Restaurant Al Borgo does not stop with its landscape and the charming villa that hosts it, but also with a long artistic and cultural tradition that sees the structure embellished with works by local artists such as Franco Fiabane, Gino Silvestri, Vico Calabrò, Augusto Murer and Italo Pradella, and Italians, such as Lucio Garofalo. Many artists attended these food and wine events. These include Cristina Moggio, Riccardo Schweizer, Beppino Lorenzet and Felice Feltracco.
