 Italy that has won the role of host and organiser of the 15thth edition of the paragliding World Championships, taking place from July 1 to 15, 2017, in an area of about 5 thousand km2 that will have as background the wonderful views of the Belluno Dolomites, UNESCO heritage, and the sea of ​​Venice on the horizon.

The IAF (International Aeronautical Federation) has appointed Monte Avena (Belluno) with the organisation of the World Championship; other countries competing for the assigment included Turkey, Slovenia, Switzerland, Austria, Portugal and Brazil. Fundamental for the awarding are the infrastructures made available to the Monte Avena area and the development projects already scheduled for 2017, as well as excellent organisational and technical skills.

The event sees the participation of 150 athletes from 48 nations. The event includes 2 days dedicated to the opening and closing ceremonies and 13 days of actual competition. The main locations of the activities will be Monte Avena and the Dolomite and pre-Alpine range of Valbelluna, but some specialties will see athletes compete in the skies of some areas of the nearby Friuli and Trentino, involving the entire Veneto foothills from Caltrano (VI) to Aviano (PN) and part of the Trentino ridge that overlooks Valsugana up to Levico.

A spectacle of sport and breathtaking views, framed between the UNESCO Dolomites and the Venetian lagoon that, on clear days, we will be able to see on the horizon. An unmissable event.
