World windsurfing championships 2017 Lake Santa Croce

Italy that has won the role of guest and organiser thanks to the Lega Navale Italiana of Belluno, which has been appointed with the organisation, at the Lake of Santa Croce, of the 2017 World Youth Championship (under 20) & Masters (over 35) of the Formula Windsurfing class, a very challenging and spectacular discipline.

More than 120 athletes from three continents are expected for the world windsurfing championships. The format of the regattas of these classes is very similar to that of traditional sailing boats, but it is much faster and more spectacular. A challenge facing the wind (gusts on the lake can even reach 55 km/h), made of tactics, speed and acrobatic maneuvers, with the best athletes in the world protagonists of a great sporting show.

Alpago and Cansiglio offer every kind of outdoor sports, with any difficulty level. From cycling to sailing on the lake, from trekking and climbing in the mountains to paragliding and hang gliding, from canyoning to kite surfing. This sport finds in the Lake of Santa Croce an ideal location thanks to the particular ventilation that, guaranteeing a horizontal flow from south to north with a high stability both regarding intensity and direction, makes practice safe and easy to learn. Moreover, the morphological structure of the valley guarantee a steady wind flow almost during the entire year, inducing many practitioners from abroad to favour this tourist destination.
