Augusto Murer Museum

Set in Falcade, this museum is actually an interesting exhibition dedicated to the renowned artist and sculptor Augusto Murer (Falcade, 1922 - Padua, 1985).

Born in Falcade, the young sculptor began his artistic career thanks to the attendance of Arturo Martini in Venice, still continuing its activities also in the Dolomites. His fame has crossed so much the Dolomites that his works have also been exhibited in several renowned artistic value museums: at Palazzo Diamanti in Ferrara, the Hermitage in St. Petersburg and the Senate Palace in Milan.

The museum tour begins in the garden, where are located some thirty bronze works by Murer since the 50s, and then continues in the building where there is on two floors over a hundred wooden sculptures and bronze as well as monuments, sacred works, drawings, oil paintings and graphic works. An art show that allows visitors to retrace the life of the sculptor from Belluno, that despite having spent most of his life away from Falcade, has always been deeply linked to the Dolomite region.

The Augusto Murer Museum, made after the artist's death in 1985, takes the place of the study designed by Giuseppe Davanzo in 1972 and inside the museum it is possible to visit temporary thematic and of contemporary artists exhibitions too.
