Winter 2020

The link between Venice and the Dolomites is strong: not only geographic, but also historical and emotional. During the clear days from the Venetian Lagoon, the rocky peaks can be glimpsed on the horizon which, emerging from behind the marvellous city of Venice, offer a breathtaking view, a unique skyline in the world, an image that is the most distinctive sign of our brand “The Land of Venice”.

A strong and successful link, if we think that both of these places are World Heritage Sites, of exceptional universal value and beauty, together with Art Cities, Venetian Villas, Venetian Fortresses, walled cities and the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene. Unique beauties in the world, which demonstrate a perfect balance between man and the environment. Places so unique and different that for us they represent a legacy to be handed down to future generations.
The Veneto Region remains, therefore, a land to be discovered, where history, traditions and culture come together to offer unforgettable experiences to those tourists who decide to spend a few moments of vacation there.
Landscapes and places to love and respect, but also to enhance, to ensure a future for the economy of these lands, which today are facing a winter season in a climate of uncertainty. Tourism is the driving force for the economy of a territory, the first industry in our Region, and it is for this reason that I trust in the combination of tourism and sport to support the restart of the Mountains of Venice.

With the 2021 World Ski Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo and the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, the Pearl of the Dolomites will become the protagonist of this page of Sports History, together with the Mountain of Venice, with its Natural Parks, open-air museums and experiences to live all year round.
